The Queen is 90!
Thursday 21st April 2016
This week at Westdale, we have been celebrating the Queen's 90th Birthday. The children dressed in red, white and blue for the occasion! The children drew portraits of the queen and even designed a pair of Royal Knickers! The celebrations continued with the whole school enjoying a sunny picnic together outside.
It's the Summer Term!
Welcome back. We can't believe the Summer Term has come around already.
Class 3 have so much to look forward to this half term with our new topic Dinosaurs and we have loved looking at our dinosaur egg and our classroom which wasn't as tidy as we had left it! What happened?
Already the children have brought in books, fossils and different items which have been lovely to share. We also look forward to children bringing in their new home learning books with information about dinosaurs, art work or objects. For ideas for the book please see insert on the first page.
This week the children have had a fantastic time celebrating Easter! They have made Easter cards, Easter cakes and really enjoyed the Easter bonnet parade for parents.
Class 3 had a great time visiting the Westdale Lane Roadworks! They were able to explore some of the machinery and see the roadworks in action. They even got a goody bag to take home!
In maths, Class 3 have been learning all about halves and quarters. These children explored finding fractions of shapes and objects using Play-doh!
Class 3 really enjoyed learning all about Chinese New Year. The week ended with the children having a Chinese Banquet, where they were able to sample Chinese foods such as, noodles, rice, prawn crackers and sweet chilli sauce! As you can see, it all went down a treat!
Happy New Year to you all! We hope you had a lovely Christmas Break.
The Children have settled into the new term really well and we have already been working hard. The new topic for this Term is 'Once Upon a Time' where we will be exploring lots of fabulous Traditional Tales. Please see the Topic Web below for this Term's work.
