Class 4

Welcome to Class 4!

This afternoon we opened the doors to the Year 1 Dinosaur Museum.  Everyone had a brilliant time.  We made rock cakes, decorated biscuits and cakes, they all went!  Once we have counted the donations we will be buying some more resources for our "Investigation Zone"

The children loved displaying their fossils, skeletons, dinosaurs and paintings.  We were all so proud of them with the enthusiasm and smiles they showed everyone.

Thank you so so much to everyone who came, and for those that couldn't make it we hope these photos give you an idea of what a fabulous afternoon we had.

The Queen is 90!

Thursday 21st April 2016

This week at Westdale, we have been celebrating the Queen's 90th Birthday. The children dressed in red, white and blue for the occasion! The children drew portraits of the queen and even designed a pair of Royal Knickers! The celebrations continued with the whole school enjoying a sunny picnic together outside.

It's the Summer Term!

Welcome back.  We can't believe the Summer Term has come around already.

Class 4 have so much to look forward to this half term with our new topic Dinosaurs and we have loved looking at our dinosaur egg and our classroom which wasn't as tidy as we had left it!  What happened?

Already the children have brought in books, fossils and different items which have been lovely to share.  We also look forward to children bringing in their new home learning books with information about dinosaurs, art work or objects.  For ideas for the book please see insert on the first page.

Class 4 really enjoyed the performance of A Twisted Tale, based on Tom's Midnight Garden. The performers really made us laugh and we loved Mrs Trimble the old lady.

We wrote reviews on the performance some of which we wanted to share with you.

On Tuesday 14th March Class 4 went to visit the roadworks on Westdale Lane.  Everyone was able to climb up into the digger and got to beep the horn on the van, much to everyones delight!  It was very cold but all enjoyed learning about the equipment and the work that was being carried out.  Thank you to Tarmac for our visit and our goody bags.

We've started the term off with the story of Chicken Licken and will soon be writing our own stories.  We have all been very busy drawing story maps to retell the story and bring it to life!

As you are aware the chicks have hatched!  Everyone has been so excited in school and we have been visiting them a lot to check they are OK.  This week we will be learning about the chicks and how we can look after them.  They will be visiting the classroom and we will be getting the chance to hold them!  Last week we began to talk about the chicks and the life cycle.  Which came first?
