Targets
Feedback is an essential part of a child's learning journey. Children need to know what they've done well and what their next steps are in order to progress and improve. At Westdale, we use child-friendly icon widgets called Snips to communicate the writing targets both verbally and visually - making them accessible to all. The picture icons are easily interpreted by the children, allowing teachers to assign personal targets. Snips are displayed in the learning environment, on modelled work on the whiteboard, and within children’s extended writing. We mark what we love in pink pen and highlight next steps and targets in green pen, making feedback purposeful and impactful.
