Reading and Phonics

We follow the National Curriculum 2014.

We follow Supersonic Phonic Friends as our phonic teaching scheme to ensure absolute consistency across EYFS and Key Stage 1. Our lessons are taught with rhythm and pace, promoting active engagement, making every minute count. Our mnemonics and actions promote physical participation and fun. 

• Our phonic teaching contains child friendly characters which are easy to remember, with accompanying rhyming phrases that are consistently repeated in every lesson.
• Phonic lessons are based on child-led learning and the idea ‘play is the way’ in the Early Years Foundation Stage.
• Every lesson is fun and engaging and are enriched with movement, a fundamental pre-writing skill and maximising learning connections.

All our reading books match each child's phonic ability and are mainly Collins Big Cat and Dandelion phonic books.
