About our school

Westdale Infant School is a local authority/community school, established over 60 years ago to educate infants children aged 4 to 7 year olds. The school is based on a pleasant site in the Mapperley area of Nottingham, falling within Gedling Borough although only 3 miles outside the centre of Nottingham.

The school's capacity is 180 children, 60 per year. The families mainly come from either the catchment area or close by. However, there are a number of children who live further away. The school is adjacent to Westdale Juniors where most children move to in Year 3.

There is no doubt that teachers, the staff team and governing body pride themselves on the achievements of the school and all work hard in order to maintain very high standards.

Our school performs above the national average for overall education attainment. The school excels in providing a stimulating learning environment for our children and there are many enrichment based activities such as trips outside the school and visits by experts into school.

Much pride is taken in providing a sense of community particularly in involving parents and seeking their views. The school takes very seriously its role in embracing all elements of equality and diversity to reflect our ever changing communities. We accommodate children with special needs and learning difficulties and the school makes every effort to support children from different backgrounds and cultures.
