The Supersonic Phonic Friends scheme is all about making the crucial skills for early readers fun, engaging and interactive, while ensuring progression in phonics learning. It builds on blocks of prior knowledge, teaching letter and sound recognition, alongside strategies of how to blend and read words and sentences successfully. The scheme also covers segmenting and spelling, which are crucial skills for early writers. Taught daily in every class across the school, the duration of the sessions varies according to the age of the children. By progressively introducing sounds in a predictable format, we help our learners gain confidence in their reading abilities, laying a strong foundation for their future literacy skills.
