Year Two had the most incredible time on Perlethorpe Camp this year. The sun was shining, and everyone got stuck into boat making, den building, bat hunting, campfires and playing in the river. I have never seen so many drenched but happy children.
Everyone got cosy in their bunks as soon as they arrived and slept like a dream! We saw lots of kindness towards others and an incredible amount of teamwork involved when they made and raced boats and constructed their dens. We sang songs and had marshmallows around the campfire and seeing the bats flying over the top of the river late at night was fascinating. We even got to see Thoresby Hall lit up and crept silently, and I mean silently, towards the white deer so we could see them grazing. Yes, Mrs Black did get pooed on by a bird, which the children found hilarious, and Mr McKenzie is our new river race winner!
Having breakfast at 6am while the sheep 'baaed' was an experience and then they all wanted a second breakfast around 9.30am! I am also impressed with how many outfit changes were performed. Some of the memories they have made will stay with them forever. The trip just encompasses all that we believe in at Westdale; those Magical Moments!
A massive thanks to all the staff who made the trip possible and gave up their own time voluntarily to keep them so safe overnight.
