As part of our Year 2 Twisted Tales and Garden Trails topic, Suns and Rainbows took part in a dress up day where they came to school as characters from Traditional Stories such as Little Red Riding Hood, Peter Pan, and Alice in Wonderland.
Everyone looked brilliant and we had such a fun day playing and learning as our favourite fairy tale characters!
Thank you so much to everyone who attended the Picnic in the Playground – it was a wonderful afternoon and we really enjoyed seeing so many people help celebrate the Jubilee at the school.
The cake donations were very welcome and Friends of Westdale raised £350.44 from purchases made on the day! Thank you to those who volunteered their time and helped make it such a success.
We saw a beautiful performance from the School Choir at the beginning of the afternoon, Mrs Watkins was very proud of all of you! There was also a fun game of bingo, and everyone looked great in Red, White, and Blue.
On Tuesday 24th May Ladybirds and Butterflies had their first trip outside of school!
We walked very smartly all the way to and back from the library. It's a lot further than you think and we were super impressed by how the children
persevered, in rain and shine!
While at the library we:
Met Andrew the librarian, he told us all about how to use the library and what you need when you visit.
Browsed the books on display and borrowed
one, if we had a library card, using the special
machine.
It was a very exciting morning, and we had a
lot of fun.
Listened to the story 'The Incredible Book
Eating Boy'.

Things had certainly changed in Y1 classes when the children came into school this morning. There was a woodland!
Children went for a walk to Digby Park to start their new learning and learned all about underground and overground animals. They had a super time building habitats too.
Butterflies and Ladybirds had a fantastic afternoon celebrating 100 days in school! What a milestone to reach!

Y2 had a fantastic morning getting creative and investigating as part of their 'Muck, Mess and Mixtures' topic. Not so a good a time cleaning up...!
This week is Early Bea Week at Westdale. We know how important it is to be on time every day to school and Super Bea (Be an Excellent Attender), our attendance mascot, is here all week to welcome you to school. Lots of you have met Super Bea already!
If you are on time this week, you will get a stamp each morning and a special prize on Friday if you get all 5 stamps!
Can you believe the mess that Teddy made? Butterfly and Ladybird children can't and have been writing crime scene reports to investigate what has happened! Some fabulous learning today based on the book 'I'm Afraid your Teddy was in Trouble Today' by Jancee Dunn.
Fantastic learning based on 'Tell me a Dragon' by Jackie Morris from the Y2s. The vocabulary they were using about dragons and the detail in the sketches and paintings was quite amazing, well done!
