  • Y2 Bricks4Kidz - Titanic Topic

    Tue 29 Nov 2022

Our Year Two children were very eager to tell the Bricks4Kidz staff all about the Titanic! We used our learning in this STEM activity where the children had to adopt their problem-solving skills, follow instructions, speak, listen, and work in a team. They used gears and pistons and attached a battery to make their boats move. The Bricks4Kiz staff were so impressed with the children’s teamwork skills and how focused they all were on the task. It was clearly enjoyed, and the children were very proud of their achievements!

  • Odd Socks Day

    Mon 14 Nov 2022

Our Odd Socks Day on Monday 14th November marked the start of Anti-Bullying Week in school. This day encouraged the children to express themselves and celebrate their individuality and what makes us all unique! We loved seeing all the odd socks and used the theme to talk about spreading kindness.

  • Y2 Pirate Day

    Tue 13 Sep 2022

On Tuesday 13th September 2022, Year 2 held a ‘Pirate Day’ to launch our topic ‘Land Ahoy!’. It was such a special and enjoyable day, and we loved seeing the children dressed as pirates.

We all took part in of exciting activities including making pirate tricorn hats, eyepatches, and cutlasses, creating treasure maps, and playing lots of pirate games, such as walk the plank. We had a brilliant time and hope all the children enjoyed themselves too!

  • Y2 Perlethorpe Trip

    Thu 23 Jun 2022

Year Two had the most incredible time on Perlethorpe Camp this year. The sun was shining, and everyone got stuck into boat making, den building, bat hunting, campfires and playing in the river. I have never seen so many drenched but happy children.

Everyone got cosy in their bunks as soon as they arrived and slept like a dream! We saw lots of kindness towards others and an incredible amount of teamwork involved when they made and raced boats and constructed their dens. We sang songs and had marshmallows around the campfire and seeing the bats flying over the top of the river late at night was fascinating. We even got to see Thoresby Hall lit up and crept silently, and I mean silently, towards the white deer so we could see them grazing. Yes, Mrs Black did get pooed on by a bird, which the children found hilarious, and Mr McKenzie is our new river race winner!

Having breakfast at 6am while the sheep 'baaed' was an experience and then they all wanted a second breakfast around 9.30am! I am also impressed with how many outfit changes were performed. Some of the memories they have made will stay with them forever. The trip just encompasses all that we believe in at Westdale; those Magical Moments!

A massive thanks to all the staff who made the trip possible and gave up their own time voluntarily to keep them so safe overnight.

  • Big Sing Up

    Tue 21 Jun 2022

On Tuesday, the choirs of both the Junior and Infant schools joined together in the Junior School for a ‘Big Sing Up’ event. The children had a fantastic time sharing songs they have learned and singing some songs all together. Everyone behaved beautifully and sang their hearts out. We were very proud of them!

  • F2 White Post Farm Trip

    Mon 20 Jun 2022

On Monday Ladybirds and Butterflies went on an adventure to White Post Farm. We explored the farm to find cows, pigs, sheep, goats, deer, wallabies, armadillos, meerkats and birds of prey. We had the opportunity to hold/stroke some of the animals such as a snake, bearded dragon, millipede, rabbit, guinea pig and a mouse. We also got to feed some of the sheep and goats in the field.

The children had so much fun and engaged enthusiastically with everything. They were also impeccably behaved and the members of staff at White Post Farm were very impressed. Teachers and T.As are still bursting with pride now!

A massive thank you to our wonderful helpers who assisted us on the trip and to all parents for your donations. Without you the trip wouldn’t have been possible so thank you!

  • Year 1 Yorkshire Wildlife Park Trip

    Mon 20 Jun 2022

Moonbeams and Comets had a great time exploring the park and meeting many new animals that we had only read about. The children were brilliant at classifying the animals into herbivore, carnivores, and omnivores, and talked about what the different animals ate. The polar bears were amazing, and the children enjoyed watching them swim to cool off.

A real highlight was the new Dinosaur Trail, and the spitting dinosaur was a favourite of most people and the cool water he spat was a relief from the heat of the day!

A huge thank you to all the parents and staff that made the trip possible.
